The Pokémon Horizons Celebration 2026 is bringing a new costumed Pokémon to Pokémon GO, alongside rotating wild encounters, special raids, GO Pass rewards and bonuses inspired by Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

Friede’s Charmander debuts
Charmander wearing Friede’s glasses makes its Pokémon GO debut during the event. Trainers can encounter it in the wild, through Field Research, with a regular Lure Module and through the event GO Pass.

The flame on its tail shows the strength of its life-force. If Charmander is weak, the flame also burns weakly.

CharizardFriede’s glasses Charmander requires 25 Charmander Candy to evolve into Friede’s glasses Charmeleon and another 100 Charmander Candy to evolve into Friede’s glasses Charizard. Lucky Trainers may also encounter a Shiny version or one with a special background.
Event bonuses
Kecleon will have an increased chance of appearing at PokéStops. Additional bonuses unlock by reaching milestones in the event GO Pass.
Level 1: 2× Candy for catching Pokémon. GO Pass Deluxe holders instead receive 3× catch Candy.
Level 10: regular Lure Modules last for one hour and can attract the featured Pokémon.
Level 20: increased Stardust for catching Hatenna and Wattrel.
Wild encounters
Friede’s glasses Charmander will appear in the wild throughout the event, and lucky Trainers may also encounter Captain Pikachu.
Wild Pokémon will also rotate depending on the time of day. From 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., expect Pokémon including Fidough, Wattrel and Chansey. From 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Pokémon including Eevee, Hatenna and Rockruff will appear.
Event raids
One-star raids: Captain Pikachu.
Three-star raids: Friede’s glasses Charizard, Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval.
According to the official announcement, these raid Pokémon may be Shiny or have a special background if you’re lucky.
Field Research and PokéStop Showcases
Event-themed Field Research tasks will award encounters with Pokémon connected to the celebration.
PokéStop Showcases will also run throughout the event, with a new featured category every day.
Surprise encounters
Take snapshots during the event for a chance to trigger surprise encounters featuring characters and Pokémon from Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe
The event GO Pass will be available from September 16 at 10:00 a.m. until September 22 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Trainers automatically receive the free GO Pass when the event begins.
The GO Pass Deluxe costs US$4.99, or the GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Levels costs US$6.99. The latter provides enough GO Points to immediately reach level 7. Local pricing and availability may vary by region.
GO Pass rewards include themed Pokémon encounters, XP, a Lure Module and additional rewards. Deluxe players can also earn extra encounters, Premium Battle Passes and Rare Candy XL.
Important: unlocked GO Pass rewards expire on September 24, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. local time, so remember to claim them before the deadline.
Pokémon GO Web Store bonuses
Purchasing the GO Pass Deluxe through the Pokémon GO Web Store includes 10 Ultra Balls, five Max Revives, one Premium Battle Pass and five Max Potions.
The GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Levels web purchase includes 10 Ultra Balls, five Max Revives, two Premium Battle Passes and five Max Potions.
An Ultra Special Box for the Deluxe + 6 Levels option includes 20 Ultra Balls, 10 Max Revives, 10 Max Potions and five Premium Battle Passes as purchase bonuses.
PokeCoord planning tips
If your priority is the new costume Pokémon, focus first on Friede’s glasses Charmander and collect enough Candy to complete its full evolution line. Keep an eye on the daytime and nighttime rotations if you’re also hunting specific wild Pokémon.
GO Pass players should also work toward levels 10 and 20 early enough to benefit from the bonuses during the event instead of unlocking them near the end. Check the PokeCoord Pokémon GO event calendar to plan this event alongside the rest of September’s schedule.
